On 14 November 2025, Kazakhstan Paramount Engineering and WSE LLP, part of the Barys Dynamics group, conducted a comprehensive demonstration on the banks of the Ili River, showcasing the combat and technical capabilities of the innovative amphibious wheeled armored vehicle “Terrex – Barys A”, equipped with the Kazakh-made combat module “Ansar” (30 mm automatic cannon, ATGM, and loitering munition).

The tests were carried out at the “Bereg” training center.
Representatives of all security and defense agencies of the Republic of Kazakhstan attended the event.

A New-Generation High-Tech Amphibious Combat Vehicle

The “Terrex – Barys A” combat vehicle is a multifunctional platform designed to accomplish a wide range of missions in conflicts of varying intensity.

Key Features of the Vehicle

1. Enhanced Mine Protection

The dual V-shaped hull design (V-over-V) provides increased resistance to explosions.
The vehicle can withstand a blast of up to 10 kg of TNT at any point beneath the hull.

2. High Ballistic Protection

The hull meets the STANAG 4569 Level 4 protection standard,
and with additional armor installed — Level 5.

3. Outstanding Amphibious Capabilities

The special hull shape ensures stable movement in water under the following conditions:

• wave height — up to 3 points on the Beaufort scale,
• wind speed — 3–5 m/s,
• wave height — up to 0.6 m,
• current speed — 2–3 m/s.

The vehicle reaches a swimming speed of more than 11 km/h thanks to two water propulsion units.
Experts emphasized that the vehicle can cross large rivers with a strong current without prior preparation.

The “Ansar” Combat Module: A Synergy of Modern Weapon Systems

The domestically produced remote-controlled “Ansar” combat module includes:

• a 30 mm 2A72 automatic cannon,
• a 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun,
• integrated ATGM system,
• automatic grenade launcher,
• loitering UAV,
• a prospective laser system.

The module’s key feature is the innovative fire-control system developed by WSE, enabling the operator to control several weapon types simultaneously within a single interface.

Loitering Munition Launch: A New Milestone in Kazakhstan’s Defense Technologies

During the demonstration, a practical launch of a self-guided loitering munition from the “Terrex – Barys A” platform was performed for the first time.

UAV Specifications

• strike/engagement range — up to 140 km,
• warhead weight — over 7 kg,
• capability to engage mobile, stationary, and fortified targets,
• the electro-optical system provides the crew with real-time reconnaissance data.

Integrating reconnaissance and strike capabilities into a unified system greatly enhances the situational awareness and combat effectiveness of army units.

A New Stage in the Development of Kazakhstan’s Defense Industry

The demonstration of the “Terrex – Barys A” clearly showed the rapid growth of Kazakhstan’s defense-industrial complex and its ability to address strategic national objectives.

According to military experts, the “Terrex – Barys A”:

• significantly expands the combat capabilities of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan,
• confirms the establishment of modern engineering and manufacturing expertise within the country,
• gives new momentum to the development of the armored vehicle market in Central Asia.
